Give 'em the old Razzle Dazzle

Aug 2024 · 3 min read · Virgin Voyages

Worth it

Ok so as you all hopefully know by now, Virgin Voyages are incredible cruises, and one of the aspects that make them soo great is the quality, selection and experience of food you have available.

In fact, sometimes it's almost too much selection, the fact that all my clothes are slightly tighter now than before should testify to this! From the juiciest burgers, to fabulously cooked steak and perfectly spiced currys there is something for everyone on board.

So what’s Razzle Dazzle all about? For me, it’s about delicious comfort food with a twist. It’s also worth noting that it’s a very vegetarian friendly restaurant with lots of veggie options. Honestly, I wish I could show you what we ate, but unfortunately we got way too excited when we saw the food and completely forgot to take any pictures, so you’re going to have to try for yourself or take our word for it. Although if you do want to try it, please be quick because rumour has it that Razzle Dazzle is soon to become someone else entirely.

Let’s start with…

Some tips and tricks for Virgin Voyages. In most restaurants on board you can eat as many different things as you like, and can even order half portions in case you (like us) have eyes way bigger than our bellies or simply want to ensure you can actually walk out rather than roll. Oh and you can also order mains for starters, starters for mains, heck I’m absolutely convinced you could just order desserts if you wanted to.

Enough teasers.. Let’s talk about the food!

We started with chicken wings with a tangy garlic and chilli peppercorn sauce, maple glazed pork belly bites and a half portion of the Nashville hot cauliflower and it was all absolutely incredible. The pork bites were sweet and tangy, the chicken wings were crispy and delicious, and the hot cauliflower was the best vegetarian dish I’ve ever had. It was all seriously good and I can honestly say that for me this was my favourite starter of the cruise. As someone who loves Street food style cuisine, it was a 10 out of 10.

For our mains we had the lamb shank, the “V” fried chicken, and the short rib pastrami. Again, absolutely delicious. The lamb shank came with glazed veg and the most incredible cheese sauce that just went with everything. It was tender, juicy and probably the best lamb I’ve had at any restaurant before. Similarly, the fried chicken was crispy and juicy in all the right places and the american style “biscuit” (kinda like a scone for us Brits) went absolutely perfectly with the chicken and maple syrup. If you enjoy sweet and savoury together this is the meal for you. Last but certainly not least was the pastrami, one of my favourites. It was salty, it was tender, it was smokey. It was everything you wanted in a pastrami meal. If you love pastrami as much as me, order two because one doesn’t take long to eat believe me!

By the time we got to desserts we were so full, but in the interest of research we carried on. We went with a Creme Brulee, Rum Cake and S’mores bowl, and as with every other dish we’d had we were not disappointed. For me the stand out winner was the S’mores pot, so indulgent and chocolatey, if you love chocolate half as much as me you’ll love it. The Creme Brulee and Rum cake too were incredibly tasty, with the Rum cake for me coming a close second. As for Sofi, the Creme Brulee was her favourite so I guess we’ve not been particularly useful in helping you choose what you’d have. You might just have to try all three!

All in all, Razzle Dazzle met our expectations and more. I think of all the restaurants on board, Razzle Dazzle is more than likely the one that’s overlooked, but in our opinion it’s one of the best. Next time you’re onboard give it a go and you won’t be disappointed!
