INNSiDE by Meliá Barcelona - The Perfect Choice for Short Stays

That's why we chose the INNSiDE by Meliá. Not only did we find a fantastic deal, but we also realised that staying at this airport hotel would save us both time and money. With the hotel's complimentary shuttle service from the airport, we were landed, on the move and checking in within 45 minutes, which after a full day of work, and a friday night flight is simply magic. The convenience factor was unbeatable, and it allowed us to start our short stay in Barcelona on a relaxed note. Did I mention that the Inside Meliá was less than half the price of most city centre hotels as well!?

Top tip: there are several INNSiDEs in and around Barcelona and the one you want is the Aeropuerto, not Apolo or one of the ones in town. Check what it’s going for on your dates, then price up a night in the centre next to it and you’ll see exactly what we mean about half the price.

Checking in

Checking in at INNSiDE by Meliá was an absolute breeze. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with smiles and a warm welcome. From being super friendly, professional and very proficient in English, the check-in process was over before we knew it and we were in our room. It was the perfect start to our short stay in Barcelona, and we couldn’t have been more satisfied with the level of service.

Our Room

The hotel room itself was nothing short of exceptional. The room was spotless, which is always a priority for us, but what truly stood out was the bed. I can confidently say it was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever experienced in a hotel—and we’ve stayed in a lot of them! The pillows were just as dreamy, making for one of the best nights of sleep we’ve ever had on our travels. To top it off, the hotel provided complimentary bottled water and a selection of juices (pineapple, orange, and apple), which was a lovely touch and added to the overall experience. These little extras really made a difference and showed the hotel’s attention to detail in ensuring guests have a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Hotel Facilities

While we didn’t get the chance to use all the facilities due to our short stay, we did take note of the hotel lobby and other amenities. The lobby was modern, stylish, and had a very inviting atmosphere—perfect for anyone looking to relax or get some work done in a comfortable setting. The internet was more than adequate for normal activities like browsing and checking emails, although we didn’t test it with any heavy streaming or downloads. Still, for most travellers, it seemed more than sufficient.

Our thoughts

For us, INNSiDE by Meliá was the perfect choice for this stay. The convenience of being picked up at the airport is huge, and the hotel itself provided everything we needed for a restful and hassle-free stay - with the most comfortable sleep I’ve had in while thrown in for good measure! Our 1 and only gripe was that the pickup point for the shuttle was a little confusing, but honestly this is merely a blemish on what was an amazing start to our 3 week holiday! If you’re going, the website says it’s between B & C, but you actually have to walk through B and half way through C, to be picked up right at the end of the strip of taxis/parked cars in front of the airport. Now we know, it’ll be a breeze next time, and when we called the hotel after midnight to ask, they were more than happy to assist us. We highly recommend the INNSiDE by Meliá to anyone looking for comfort and convenience during a brief stop in Barcelona, or anyone like us looking for a convenient first night’s stay after a late flight.

Where exactly do you catch the shuttle at Barcelona airport? This is the one bit that caught us out. The website says between B and C, but you actually walk through B and half way through C, then out to the very end of the strip of taxis and parked cars in front of the airport. We rang the hotel after midnight to ask and they could not have been nicer about it.

Is an airport hotel cheaper than staying in central Barcelona? It was, by a decent margin, when we booked. Prices move about though, so put your dates into the hotel and the city centre and compare the two before you commit.

Is the INNSiDE Barcelona Aeropuerto a good pre-cruise hotel? It’s exactly what we used it for, the night before a Virgin Voyages sailing. You’re swapping a late night trek into the city for a short hop in the morning, and after a full day of work and an evening flight, that swap was worth a lot to us.

Is the wifi good enough to work from? Fine for browsing and email, which is all we asked of it. We didn’t push it with streaming or big downloads, so we can’t promise you a full day of video calls on it.
